Most boring job!

Have you ever thought how interesting it would be to take up watchman's job? To find out, you need not take up the watchman's job necessarily. Here is an easier way. Be a lecturer in an engineering college, especially in a private college and you will come to know. In fact, the above mentioned lecturer post gives you a taste of many more jobs too.

Internals for engineering students last for one and half hours. One of the rules for room superintendents is to keep walking for the entire duration of the test. Sometime a lecturer can get two or three duties per day, and it can be a terrible experience. Nevertheless, since it is with a break of at least fifteen minutes, it is not all that miserable. Real challenge is to take up invigilation for the end semester examinations. The total duration is three hours and the room superintendent is not allowed to sit at all. In between, this person is relieved for fifteen minutes, which will be effectively only for ten minutes, especially if the staff room is away.

After going through this horrible exercise of invigilating, it is not hard to imagine how a security guard's day would go. It is no better than solitary confinement, except that here the guard can see the daylight. Can anyone refute this statement-"The most uninteresting job is watchman's job"? Is there any scope for creativity or innovation? Isn't it unfair that they are paid a meagre sum at the end of the month? It may be true that they chose this job. Still, the job is grossly being underestimated. They deserve to be paid better.

Here is an anecdote: The CEO of a big organization was supposed to go abroad for a meeting. On the day of his travel, in the morning one of his night-wathmans came running and said, "Sir, please do not travel today, I dreamt that plane is going to crash." The CEO never believed in these usually, but for a change, he stayed back. The plane did crash. The next day security was fired from his job. What could be the reason? Think.

Comments:
the nightwatchman was sleeping and dreaming instead being on guard.

hmm... when i as in NCC (7 Karnataka battalion), had been to an Army attachment camp where we learn the ways of Army people. Every night one cadet has to guard the entire battalion (not for hour and half, not for three but for almost 8-9 hours), while he is on guard, there will be surprise visits from the Army officers (we are not supposed to sit, not supposed to stand in one place.. but to keep roaming the entire area which we are supposed to guard). Whenever we think there is some intruder in the area we are supposed to warn them and ask them to reveal themselves.. it is like...

Cadet: Saavdhan...
(Intruder stops)
Cadet: Javan apna parichay do..
Intruder: Major Singh, in-charge or EMC secunderabad..
Cadet: Man.. i am screwed .. for stopping the commander in charge.. :D
